This Privacy Policy explains how Card My Recipe (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use cardmyrecipe.com (the “Service”).

1) Information we collect

Account information (when you sign in):

• Your Google account email address
• Your name and/or profile identifier provided by Google (as available)

Content you provide:

• Recipes and other text you paste or import (including ingredients, instructions, notes, titles, and author name you enter)
• Cards you generate and (if signed in) save to your library
• If you create a shareable/public link, the content associated with that link

Usage and device information:

• Basic log data (e.g., IP address, user agent, timestamps, pages/endpoints accessed) for security, rate limiting, and reliability

Cookies:

• We use a session cookie to keep you signed in.
• Third parties may set cookies under their own policies (see below).

2) How we use information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the Service (generate cards, render printable layouts, save your library)
• Authenticate you (Google sign-in) and maintain sessions
• Enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and secure the Service
• Improve reliability and troubleshoot bugs
• Respond to support requests

3) AI processing (OpenAI)

Some features use an AI provider (OpenAI) to format recipe content into structured recipe cards.

When you generate a card, we send the text required to perform the formatting request to OpenAI and receive structured output used to render your card.

Important: AI output may be inaccurate. You should review results before cooking.

4) Sharing and public links

If you choose to create a public/shareable recipe link, that card is accessible to anyone with the URL. Do not share sensitive or private information via public links.

5) Affiliate links (Amazon Associates)

Our Print Shop contains Amazon affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link, Amazon may collect information under its own privacy policy. We may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

6) How we share information

We share information only in limited ways:

Service providers: We use third-party providers to operate the Service, including:

• Google (authentication)
• OpenAI (recipe formatting)
• Hosting and infrastructure providers (e.g., Fly.io, Cloudflare, database providers)

Legal and safety: If required to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security.

With your direction: When you generate a public link or otherwise choose to share content.

We do not sell your personal information.

7) Data retention and deletion

Saved recipes remain in your library unless you delete them or close your account (where supported).

We retain logs for security and abuse prevention for a limited period as needed for operations.

If we plan to discontinue the Service, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice and an opportunity to export your data, but we do not guarantee ongoing availability.

8) Your choices

Public links: You control whether to create public/shareable links.

Delete recipes: You can delete saved recipes from your library.

Account: You may stop using the Service at any time.

9) Security

We use reasonable measures designed to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10) Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post updates on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
