Snickerdoodles (Double Chocolate)
Underbake slightly for a soft center.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (226g) butter, softened
- 1 1/3 cups (265g) sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/3 cups (295g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- to taste Coating: 1/4 cup sugar + 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- to taste Reduce flour by 1/3 cup
Method
- Heat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.
- Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs.
- Mix in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Whisk cocoa into dry ingredients; reduce flour accordingly.
- Roll dough balls in cinnamon sugar.
- Bake 9–11 minutes until puffed. Cool 5 minutes on the sheet.
