Sugar Cookies (Soft) (Double Chocolate)
For cut-out cookies, chill dough and roll between parchment.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (226g) butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/3 cups (295g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- to taste Reduce flour by 1/3 cup
Method
- Heat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until dough forms.
- Whisk cocoa into dry ingredients; reduce flour accordingly.
- Scoop 1.5-tbsp balls; flatten slightly.
- Bake 9–11 minutes until edges are set. Cool on the sheet.
