Mac and Cheese (Stovetop)
Reserve pasta water; it's the secret to glossy sauces.
Ingredients
- 12 oz macaroni
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- to taste Black pepper
Method
- Cook macaroni; drain.
- Make roux: melt butter, whisk in flour 1 minute.
- Whisk in milk; simmer until thick, 3–5 minutes.
- Off heat, melt in cheddar; season.
- Toss with pasta and serve.
