Tomato Sauce. 2 tablespoons butter. 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion. 1¾ cups tomatoes. 1 tablespoon sliced mushroom. ¼ teaspoon salt. Few grains cayenne. Cook butter with onion until yellow. Add tomatoes, and cook until moisture has nearly evaporated. Add one tablespoon sliced mushroom, one-fourth teaspoon salt, and few grains cayenne. This is improved by a small piece of red or green pepper, finely chopped, cooked with butter and onion.
