Butterflake Rolls
Pull-apart layered rolls with a buttery, soft interior.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp melted butter, plus more for brushing
Method
- Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir in the warm milk, egg, and 2 tablespoons melted butter to form a soft dough.
- Knead until smooth, about 6 minutes. Cover and rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Roll the dough out thinly, brush with the remaining melted butter, and cut into strips.
- Stack and fold the strips into muffin cups to create layers.
- Let rise 20 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until deeply golden. Brush with more butter.
Notes
Grease the muffin tin well so the rolls release cleanly.
