Indian Gruel.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Indian meal.
- 1 tablespoon flour.
- ½ teaspoon salt.
- Cold water.
- 3 cups boiling water.
- Milk or cream.
Method
- Mix meal, flour, and salt; add cold water to make a thin paste. Add to boiling water, and boil gently one hour.
- Dilute with milk or cream. A richer gruel may be made by using milk instead of water, and cooking three hours in double boiler.

- A double boiler is a bowl or insert set over simmering water.
